Question 1

What is Lease 4 Credit?

Accepted Answer

Lease 4 Credit is a credit-building service that reports your existing lease and rental payments — vehicle leases, apartment/home rent, rent-to-own items, shed/storage rentals, and mobile phone bills — to all three major credit bureaus: Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. Payments you are already making every month can now work for your credit score.

Question 2

How do I sign up?

Accepted Answer

Visit lease4credit.com/signup and complete our 5-step enrollment form. You will choose which accounts to report, provide your personal information, upload your lease or agreement documents, and pay the one-time $69 onboarding fee. The whole process takes about 10 minutes.

Question 3

What documents do I need to enroll?

Accepted Answer

You will need a valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport) and a copy of your lease or service agreement for each account you want reported. Bank statements showing payment history are optional but can help us verify past payments for backdated reporting.

Question 4

How long does it take to get set up?

Accepted Answer

Our team reviews your documents within 1–2 business days of submission. Once approved, your account is enrolled with the bureaus and reporting begins on your next monthly cycle. Most members see their first bureau update within 30–45 days of enrollment.

Question 5

Do I need good credit to sign up?

Accepted Answer

No. Lease 4 Credit is designed for people at all credit levels — including those with no credit history, thin files, or past credit challenges. There is no credit check required to enroll.

Question 6

What types of accounts can I report?

Accepted Answer

We currently report five types of accounts: (1) Vehicle Leases — cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorcycles; (2) Apartment & Home Rent — apartments, houses, condos, and townhomes; (3) Rent-to-Own Items — furniture, appliances, and electronics; (4) Sheds & Storage — portable sheds, storage units, and outbuildings; and (5) Mobile Phone Bills — monthly cell phone service agreements.

Question 7

Can I report my mobile phone bill?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Your monthly mobile phone bill is a recurring payment that most people never get credit for. Lease 4 Credit can report your cell phone service payments to all three bureaus, adding to your payment history and credit mix — two of the most important factors in your credit score.

Question 8

Can I report more than one account?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. You can report up to four accounts simultaneously. Each additional account is $8.95/month. Reporting multiple accounts diversifies your credit mix and accelerates your score improvement.

Question 9

Does my landlord or phone carrier need to participate?

Accepted Answer

No. Lease 4 Credit works independently. Your landlord, leasing company, or phone carrier does not need to sign up or take any action. We use your lease documents and payment records to report on your behalf.

Question 10

Can I report payments I have already been making — going back in time?

Accepted Answer

Yes! This is one of our most powerful features. We can report up to 3 years (36 months) of your past on-time payment history to the credit bureaus. If you have been paying your rent, lease, or phone bill on time for years, that history can be added to your credit report right away — giving your score an immediate boost instead of waiting months to build history from scratch.

Question 11

How far back can you report my payment history?

Accepted Answer

We can report up to 36 months (3 years) of retroactive payment history. To qualify for backdated reporting, you will need documentation showing your payment history — such as bank statements, receipts, or a payment ledger from your landlord or leasing company.

Question 12

How much will my credit score improve?

Accepted Answer

Results vary based on your starting score, credit history, and how many accounts you report. On average, our members see a +175 point increase over 3–6 months of consistent on-time payments. Members who use backdated reporting often see faster initial gains.

Question 13

Which credit bureaus do you report to?

Accepted Answer

We report to all three major credit bureaus: Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. This ensures your payment history appears across the board, regardless of which bureau a lender pulls when you apply for credit.

Question 14

How does reporting payments help my credit score?

Accepted Answer

Payment history is the single largest factor in your FICO score, accounting for 35% of your total score. By adding consistent on-time payments to your credit report, you build a positive track record that lenders look for. Reporting multiple account types also improves your credit mix (10% of your score) and increases the length of your credit history (15% of your score).

Question 15

When will I see results on my credit report?

Accepted Answer

Your first bureau update typically appears within 30–45 days of enrollment. If you use backdated reporting, you may see an immediate change on your next bureau update cycle. We recommend checking your credit report 60 days after enrollment to see your progress.

Question 16

What happens if I miss a payment?

Accepted Answer

We only report payments that are verified as on-time. If a payment is missed or late, it will not be reported as a positive payment for that month. Consistent on-time payments are key to maximizing your results. We recommend setting up autopay for all accounts you enroll.

Question 17

How much does Lease 4 Credit cost?

Accepted Answer

There is a one-time $69 onboarding fee when you first sign up. This covers identity verification, document review, and bureau enrollment setup. After that, it is $8.95/month for each account you want reported. For example, reporting two accounts costs $17.90/month.

Question 18

Is the onboarding fee refundable?

Accepted Answer

The $69 onboarding fee is non-refundable. It covers the cost of identity verification, document processing, and initial bureau enrollment — work that is completed at the time of signup.

Question 19

Are there any hidden fees?

Accepted Answer

No. Our pricing is completely transparent: $69 once, then $8.95/month per account. There are no setup fees beyond the onboarding fee, no annual fees, and no cancellation penalties.

Question 20

Will I be charged sales tax?

Accepted Answer

Sales tax is applied to the $69 onboarding fee based on the state you reside in. The tax amount is calculated and displayed clearly before you complete your enrollment. Monthly subscription fees are not subject to sales tax.

Question 21

Can I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can cancel at any time. If you cancel before your next billing date, you will not be charged for the following month. Your account reporting will stop at the end of your current billing period.

Question 22

What is backdated reporting?

Accepted Answer

Backdated reporting allows us to submit up to 3 years of your past on-time payment history to the credit bureaus. Instead of starting from zero and waiting months to build history, you can get credit for payments you have already been making — potentially boosting your score right away.

Question 23

How do I qualify for backdated reporting?

Accepted Answer

To report past payments, you need documentation that verifies your payment history. Acceptable documents include bank statements showing recurring payments, receipts or payment confirmations, a payment ledger from your landlord or leasing company, or a signed letter from your landlord confirming your payment history.

Question 24

Does backdated reporting cost extra?

Accepted Answer

No. Backdated reporting is included with your standard enrollment. There is no additional fee to report up to 36 months of past payment history.

Question 25

Can I backdate all account types?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Backdated reporting is available for all five account types: vehicle leases, apartment/home rent, rent-to-own items, sheds/storage, and mobile phone bills — as long as you have documentation to support the payment history.

Question 26

What if I do not have 3 years of payment history?

Accepted Answer

That is perfectly fine. We will report however much verified history you have — whether that is 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years. Every month of positive history helps.

Question 27

How do I check my credit progress?

Accepted Answer

Once enrolled, you will have access to your member dashboard where you can track your reporting status and credit score progress. We also recommend using a free credit monitoring service like Credit Karma or AnnualCreditReport.com to track your bureau updates.

Question 28

Can I add or remove accounts after signing up?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can add additional accounts at any time for $8.95/month each. To remove an account, contact our support team before your next billing date and we will stop reporting that account.

Question 29

What if there is an error on my credit report?

Accepted Answer

If you notice an error related to your Lease 4 Credit reporting, contact our support team immediately. We will investigate and submit a correction to the bureaus if needed. You also have the right to dispute errors directly with each bureau under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

Question 30

How do I contact support?

Accepted Answer

You can reach our team by phone at 516-268-0094, via live chat on our website (available Mon–Sat, 9 AM–6 PM ET), by email at support@lease4credit.com, or through the contact form at lease4credit.com/contact. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 1 business day.

Question 31

Is my personal information secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We use industry-standard encryption to protect your personal information and documents. We never sell your data to third parties. Your SSN and sensitive information are used solely for identity verification and bureau enrollment purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
